Nests in unlikely places
After replacing our cedar siding with vinyl we have not heard much of the squirrels. On Saturday Mutti decided that the garlands, lights, and red ribbon bows we use for the balcony at Christmas ought to be put away. They had been placed in a Rubbermaid storage container and left outside on the balcony back in January. Here is what she found when she opened the container:

Note the hole in the bottom of the container. The lights had been chewed through in a number of spots and the red ribbons shredded into thin strips. When mixed with leaves and the garland framework they must have made a nice comfortable bed.
We will be investing in new decorating materials for the upcoming season.
