The latest from the garden
While we were in Nevada this last weekend I helped Dad pull up a bunch of mature Swiss chard that no one was interested in eating. I was amazed at the different colors. Dad said he only planted two different kinds of seed: white and red.
Dad also wanted to make sure I got a picture of the "popcorn popping in the apricot tree". If each of those blossoms becomes an apricot, this little tree will be loaded. We had just gotten some towels off the clothes line, which explains the bundle Dad has in his arms.
Aunt LaVell's funeral was good for us to attend. We learned a lot about how accomplished she was. She got both a bachelor's and master's degree while she was raising her children after Uncle Percy was killed in the steel mill accident in 1944. She did research in the food technology field and taught food science at BYU. Here is a picture taken graveside after the funeral:

LaVell's four children (my cousins) are in the center of this picture under the canopy, from left to right--Paula Webb (in Pink), Elaine Rowley (in black with her arms folded), Deloy Wittwer (blue shirt), and SueZanna Sylvester (turned sideways). Deloy's wife is between him and SueZanna. When she passed away, Aunt LaVell had about 230 descendents, which included great-great grandchildren. She will be missed.

Thanks for posting these pictures, Dad.
the apricot tree blossoms are very pretty.
i'm sure that your and mom's presence at the funeral was appreciated. i assume that grandmother and grandfather went with you?
We rode with them. Aunt LaRee and Uncle Reed also drove there (and back)--all on Saturday! It was a long day for them, but it was nice to see them, also.
